Apopka police ID missing teen who died after crashing stolen car

The Apopka Police Department has identified a teen driver who was killed on Wednesday morning after crashing a vehicle that had been reported as stolen.

Blake Harrison Smart, 16, died on Wednesday, April 24, after a vehicle he was driving crashed near the intersection of Kelly Park Road and Chandler Road in Apopka, according to APD.

The police department stated that officers were dispatched to the intersection at around 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday.

Smart was the sole occupant of the vehicle involved in the crash, and he was airlifted to a local trauma center.

“Regrettably, Mr. Smart succumbed to his injuries,” stated the police department in a media release.

After completing a preliminary investigation, APD stated that officers learned that Smart had been reported as a missing person. In addition, he was allegedly operating a stolen vehicle at the time of the crash.

No further details were provided by the Apopka Police Department.
