The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office recently conducted an undercover enforcement operation at over 20 local stores, and half of them were caught selling alcohol to an underage customer.
On Wednesday, April 24, VCSO deputies visited 26 stores located on the west side of Volusia County. While at each store, an under-21 buyer attempted to purchase alcohol.
According to the sheriff’s office, 13 of the stores sold alcohol to the underage buyer without checking their ID.
VCSO stated that the violations, which are second-degree misdemeanors, were found at the following stores:
DeLeon Springs Food Mart (5145 U.S. 17 in DeLeon Springs); Citgo (4796 U.S. 17 in DeLeon Springs); Shell (2201 N Woodland Boulevard in DeLand); Chevron (150 N Volusia Avenue in Orange City); Orange City Liquors (1155 S Volusia Avenue in Orange City); Shell (885 S Volusia Avenue in Orange City); Sunoco (600 S Charles R. Beall Boulevard in Deltona); Dizzy D’s Bar and Liquor Store (1200 Deltona Boulevard in Deltona); Deltona Express Mart (1199 E Normandy Boulevard in Deltona); Chevron Food Mart (1644 Providence Boulevard in Deltona); Familia Mini Mart (271 Fort Smith Boulevard in Deltona); Deltona Marathon (2840 Doyle Road in Deltona); and Sunoco Gas Station (160 State Road 415 in Osteen).
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is reminding all businesses to avoid these violations by following the law and checking IDs.
