Suspect arrested in ‘landlord tenant dispute’ shooting that left 1 dead, 1 injured


Orlando police have arrested a 38-year-old man for his alleged involvement in a fatal shooting that left one person dead and another wounded last month.

On Monday, April 29, the Orlando Police Department’s fugitive investigative unit apprehended Joel Santos Garcia in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred during a “landlord tenant dispute.”

At around 11 a.m. on March 28, OPD officers responded to a home located in the 800 block of Dorado Avenue in reference to shots being fired.

According to OPD, officers learned that two armed men had come to the residence to settle a dispute between a landlord and tenant. An argument ensued at the home, which resulted in both men being shot by the tenant.

One of the male victims sustained fatal injuries in the shooting and was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified by police as 40-year-old Angel Luis Santos.

The second unidentified male victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

No further details regarding the shooting incident were released by Orlando police.

The suspect in this homicide case, Garcia, was arrested and transported to Orange County Jail. He is currently being held at the facility without bond, and he is facing the following charges: second-degree murder and burglary of a dwelling with a firearm.
