Mark H Goodman of Maitland, FL passed away on April 25, 2024 at the age of 65, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity and kindness. He is survived by his devoted wife, Dyan; children, Elliott (Eduardo) and Candace, his in-laws Ken and Jo Grushka, nephews and nieces, Cody Goodman, Matthew Rosen (Katie), Amanda Rosen, Jared Rosen (Allison), Jonathan Rosen (Vicky); Erin Benis (Brett), Jeffrey Cohen (Faith) and Zachary Goodman, brothers and sisters-in-law, Lisa and Jeffrey Rosen, Amie Goodman and Jack Cohen.
Born November 8, 1958, in Far Rockaway, NY to Harvey and Helene Goodman. They relocated to N. Miami Beach in 1960 where he enjoyed a sports-filled childhood with brothers Bobby and Steven and sister Andrea. He later moved to Orlando where he met and married his wife and life partner, Dyan in 1985 and soon after welcomed children Elliott and Candace.
Mark had an unstoppable zest for life, overcoming adversity marked by resilience and determination. He taught us to never give up by defying the odds against leukemia and a subsequent bone marrow transplant in 2006. This optimism and desire to live a full life gave us the gift of many treasured years with him.
Aside from his love of sports; the Yankees, Seminoles, the US Open, and The Masters, Mark was passionate about giving back to his community and looked forward to his monthly chef duties feeding the homeless through Masim Tovim at Congregation Ohev Shalom. His joy of cooking continued at home where he found pleasure in creating new recipes. If there was a party, he couldn’t wait to plan the menu and was continually upping the degree of difficulty.
His friendships were meaningful and he was always quick to lend a helping hand. Whatever the invitation, he always accepted with enthusiasm and looked forward to the occasion. Above all, Mark cherished his family and nothing fulfilled him more than taking care of and providing for them. He was infinitely proud of every member and took pride in each of their achievements. A bright star has gone out, however, the power of Mark’s love and light will continue to shine on.
