Linda Fortson Davis

Our dear Mother, Linda Fortson Davis, peacefully passed away May 4, 2024 at the age of 80 after bravely battling cancer. She was born on October 8, 1943 in Sanford, Florida to Mary Ann Baker Fortson and Marion Fortson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother James Fortson, sister Johnnie Mae Haig, sister Dorothy Johnson, and her sister Margaret Bozek. She is survived by her sister Eileen Raulerson of Ft. Myers, her son Joseph T. Davis (Mary) of Tifton, GA, daughter Christine M. Copley (Patrick) of Mount Dora, daughter Melody R. McCormick (Glenn) of Chuluota, and her son John Michael Davis of Casselberry, as well as 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

As a single mother, Linda tirelessly worked two jobs to provide for her children. She spent many years working route delivery for the Sanford Herald during the day and route delivery for the Orlando Sentinel in the early morning hours before she obtained her certification as a Nurse’s Aid, exemplifying her dedication to caring for others. Despite retiring in 2015 due to a stroke, Linda cherished time with family, especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. A skilled seamstress, she lovingly crafted clothes for her children when they were younger and later turned to quilting, generously giving her creations to loved ones. Linda was always immersed in various projects, including holiday decorations.

A devout Christian, Linda found solace in the belief of reuniting with her loved ones in Heaven.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Loomis Funeral Home on June 1, at 11 a.m., fulfilling Linda’s wish for a joyous occasion where attendees are encouraged to wear attire that makes them feel beautiful instead of traditional black clothing.

Linda will be fondly remembered most for her unwavering kindness and devotion to her family, above all else. Her kindness and compassion are reflected in the many lives she has touched. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
