Raleigh Kathryn Marquis died unexpectedly at home on May 3, 2024 in Orlando, Florida at the age of 47.
Katie is survived by her husband of 17 years, Brian Marquis; Parents, Linda and Raleigh “Sandy” Seay; Sister and Brother-in-Law, Samantha and Mark Hunter and Nieces, Annie, Kathryn and Karleigh Hunter.
Katie was born on December 12, 1976 in Roanoke, Virginia, to Linda and Sandy Seay. She is a double Gator and a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, graduating from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida with a Bachelors of Science (1998) and Masters of Arts (2001) degrees. After a few years in public relations, Katie had the opportunity to return to UF in 2005, working in the Alumni Office where she met her husband, Brian. In 2012, Katie left UFAA for Seay Management Consultants, her father’s firm in Orlando, Florida. In 2014, Katie had an opportunity to get back into Alumni Relations at Virginia Tech, her father’s Alma mater where she worked until 2022.
She enjoyed spending time with her three nieces, talking all things Taylor Swift.
She and Brian took multiple trips to Germany and Austria. They enjoyed spending time in the Bavarian and Austrian Alps and most recently visiting the Christkindlmarkt during Advent.
Katie was an avid Gator fan. She never missed a football game or a chance to cheer on the Orange and Blue.
Katie made everyone laugh. You felt welcomed and included when you were with her.
Katie was a kind and gentle soul who was loved by all who knew her. Her spirit will never be far from us.
A Requiem Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on May 16, 2024 at St Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park, Florida, with a reception to follow
