Dorothy Mary Loughran

Dorothy Loughran, a cherished matriarch, devoted wife, and beloved grandmother, passed away on May 7th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that touched the lives of all who knew her. Dorothy was born on February 19th, 1929, in Providence, Rhode Island, to her loving parents Joseph and Isabella Glowacki, who have since passed.

On June 6,1948, Dorothy exchanged vows with her beloved Thomas Loughran, embarking on a journey of love and companionship that lasted over five decades. Together, they raised three children: Thomas, who is married to Cindy; Mary, who was married to Jeff (now deceased); and Philip, who is married to Pearl. Dorothy and Thomas instilled in their children the values of faith and education, ensuring each received a Catholic upbringing, a testament to their devout Catholicism.

In 2005, Dorothy bid farewell to her beloved husband, Thomas, after a lifetime of shared joys. His passing left an irreplaceable void in her life, but she found solace in the memories they created together and the love they shared.

Dorothy was blessed with three grandchildren, Joey Salzman (wife Liz), Tommy Loughran, and Danny Loughran (wife Britt), as well as one great-grandchild, Haleigh Loughran. She cherished each moment spent with her family, finding joy in their laughter and comfort in their presence.

Throughout her life, Dorothy was known for her creative spirit and passion for the arts. A talented artist, she expressed herself through various mediums, finding joy in the vibrant colors and intricate details of her paintings. Her love for literature was equally profound, as she delved into countless books, finding solace and inspiration within their pages. Dorothy’s thirst for knowledge extended to languages, and she enjoyed learning Polish and Russian, expanding her cultural horizons. She also was known for her love of sweets with a special love for chocolate.

Dorothy’s unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life, and for the past 15 years, she found solace and community as a member of Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs. Her dedication to her faith was evident in every aspect of her life, guiding her actions and shaping her character.

As we bid farewell to Dorothy, we take comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her beloved husband, Thomas, in eternal peace. A funeral service will be held at Saint Mary Magdalen Church on May 14th, followed by her interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando, where she will rest beside her beloved husband.

Dorothy’s kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith will forever be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, knowing that her love lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
