19-year-old killed in crash on Goldenrod Road in Orange County

A 19-year-old Orlando woman was killed on Monday night after her car was struck by a van on Goldenrod Road in Orange County.

The fatal crash took place at around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, June 10, near the intersection of Goldenrod Road and Silver Pointe Boulevard in Orlando.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the 19-year-old woman was approaching Silver Pointe Boulevard while traveling southbound in a car (2006 Honda Civic) on Goldenrod Road. At the same time, a van (2010 Chevrolet Express) was heading northbound on Goldenrod Road near the same intersection.

FHP stated that the woman lost control of her car while in the inside lane, and the vehicle struck a curb before veering off the roadway. As the car rotated in a clockwise direction, it entered the northbound lanes of Goldenrod Road, directly in the path of the van.

The left side of the car was then struck by the front of the van.

The driver and sole occupant of the car was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. A trooper noted in the report that the woman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The van’s sole occupant, a 47-year-old Orlando man, was not injured.

The fatal crash is currently under investigation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
