Orlando man caught with 150 pounds of meth faces life in prison

A 35-year-old Orlando man who pleaded guilty to possessing 150 pounds of methamphetamine and nearly a kilogram of fentanyl with intent to distribute the drugs is facing up to life in prison.

On Tuesday, June 18, U.S. Attorney Roger B. Handberg of the Middle District of Florida announced that George Andrew Pherai-Bogeajis has pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine and possessing firearms in furtherance of that conduct.

According to the plea agreement and court records, in March of 2024, Pherai-Bogeajis was under surveillance when he paid a known Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) target nearly $150,000 for a duffel bag.

On April 9, 2024, DEA agents conducted searches of Pherai-Bogeajis’ primary residence in Orlando and a stash house in Ocoee that he was known to use. During the searches, agents found approximately 68 kilograms (around 150 pounds) of methamphetamine, nearly a kilogram of fentanyl, four firearms, $717,480 in cash, and two vehicles that contained secret compartments used to conceal and transport drugs.

Pherai-Bogeajis was not at either property at the time the search warrants were executed, but he was later apprehended and transported to Seminole County Jail.

Under the plea agreement, Pherai-Bogeajis will forfeit the cash that was recovered from the two properties, along with the firearms and vehicles that were used to “facilitate the offense.”

This case was investigated by the DEA, with assistance from the Orlando Police Department, Ocoee Police Department, Oviedo Police Department, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Highway Patrol, Homeland Security Investigations, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Dana E. Hill.

Pherai-Bogeajis faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 15 years, up to life, in federal prison. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
