A Tesla driver was killed on Thursday morning after crashing into a tree in Osceola County.

The fatal crash occurred at around 8:25 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, near the intersection of Hickory Tree Road and Nursery Road in St. Cloud, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP stated that a 2018 Tesla Model X was traveling eastbound on Hickory Tree Road, west of the Nursery Road intersection. A trooper noted in the report that the Tesla was “traveling above the posted speed limit” when it approached a curve in the roadway.

The driver proceeded to lose control of the Tesla, and the vehicle veered off the roadway to the right before striking a nearby tree. Due to the impact, the vehicle became engulfed in flames.
