Orlando man killed in crash involving two semi-trucks on U.S. 441

A 59-year-old Orlando man was killed on Saturday morning after two semi-trucks collided on U.S. Highway 441 in Osceola County.

At around 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, the man from Orlando was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 441, south of State Road 60, in Osceola County. He was the driver and sole occupant of a 2015 semi-truck with a trailer, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP stated that at the same time, a 2020 semi-truck with a trailer was heading southbound on U.S. Highway 441 in the same area.

For reasons that are currently unknown, the 2015 semi-truck veered into the oncoming lane, directly into the path of the second semi-truck. The driver and sole occupant of the second semi-truck, a 28-year-old Orlando man, swerved in an attempt to avoid a collision.

An FHP trooper noted in the report that the front left section of the 2015 semi-truck proceeded to collide with the left side of the second semi-truck’s trailer. This impact caused both vehicles to run off the roadway before overturning near the woods.

The 58-year-old driver of the 2015 semi-truck sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The report stated that the other driver involved in the accident was not injured.

The crash is still under investigation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

On Friday, June 21, a crash on U.S. Highway 441 involving a pickup truck left a 19-year-old man dead and a 20-year-old man seriously injured.
