A 22-year-old man from Winter Park was killed on Friday morning after crashing his motorcycle near an intersection in Seminole County.

The fatal crash occurred at around 6:50 a.m. on Friday, June 28, near the intersection of Rinehart Road and Plantation Lakes Circle in Sanford.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Rinehart Road, west of Plantation Lakes Circle, when he failed to properly negotiate a curve in the roadway.

As a result, FHP stated that the motorcycle veered off the roadway, throwing the rider off the vehicle. He was transported to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital in Sanford, where he was pronounced deceased.

The report stated that the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. His name was not released by FHP.

A trooper noted in the report that the crash remains under investigation.
