Romeo (Romy) Maniego was born on June 25, 1933, in San Jose, Nueva Ecija, Philippines.
Fondly called “daddy” and “lolo”, Romy was the ever-loving husband to his wife, Mercedes (Ched) Maniego. Together, they raised nine children and were surrounded by the love of twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Following the footsteps of his father, Romy was a civil engineer by profession. He graduated from the University of the Philippines and took pride in making it to the top six of the Civil Engineering board exam.
Romy was distinctively a simple man and passionately unique in his devotion to his faith, family, and approach to life. His happiness was just being around his family, and most especially, his wife. Romy was not very expressive with his words, yet his actions spoke louder.
He looked forward to going out on weekends and enjoy Chinese food. He had his favorites – fish maw soup, as one of them. In his younger days, he loved to dance the tango with his wife, Mercedes.
He will be greatly missed by his loving children and families: Linda, wife of his late son, Arthur, and their children: Andrew, Carol and Billie, and Beng and her husband, Andy; Great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Carl, Bryan, and Beatriz Catalina and William and their children: Kathy, Sabrina and her husband, Terrence; and John; Great-grandchildren: Troy, Renee, Kal, and Temante Isagani and Babette and his children; Jeng and her husband, Woody; Abby and her husband, Darwin; Warren and his husband, Abdul; and john and his wife, Mia; Great-grandchildren: Isaack, Ilanna, Isla, and Emma.
