A large timeshare resort company will be laying off more than 350 employees at one of its Orlando locations next month.
On June 27, 2024, an office representing Westgate Marketing, LLC and Westgate Resorts, Inc. made the announcement in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing with the Florida Department of Commerce.
The layoffs, which are expected to be permanent, will affect a total of 357 employees at Westgate Resorts’ South Park location at 8680 Commodity Circle in Orlando.
According to Westgate Resorts, the upcoming layoffs are due to a merger between the timeshare company’s marketing and support teams.
The filing shows that the “expected date of separation” for the 357 employees is on August 30, 2024, and no further terminations are anticipated beyond that date.
The affected employees are not represented by a union and have no bumping rights, according to the filing.
