David Carson Wood, a resident of Orlando, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on June 28, 2024, at the age of 68.
David was born in Dunedin, Florida on August 25,1955 to Helen and Carson Wood. He attended Dunedin High School and served his country in the Marine Corps with the Second Force Reconnaissance Company at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina.
David was a devoted husband, son, brother, and uncle. He was a master welder for 21 years before shifting careers to become a horticulturist with SeaWorld, Discovery Cove and Aquatica for an additional 18 years. He loved working with nature and truly had a green thumb. David had a love of theme parks, traveling with his wife, was a true lover of cruising recently visiting Greece, Rome, France, and Turkey. He was a problem-solver who often took on difficult and unwanted projects at work and around the house.
David was a true giver often thinking of others over himself. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. David is survived by his wife of 43 years, Deborah Wood of Orlando, Florida; his brothers Charles Wood of Dunedin, Florida and Michael Wood of Virginia; his nephews Adam Wood and wife (Heather) of Largo, Florida; Jordan Wood of Layfette, Georgia; and Michael Wood II of Virginia; Great nephew Jeremy Wood of Largo, Florida; Great Nieces Sophia and Cassandra Wood of Largo, Florida; Cousin Beth Roberts of Clearwater, Florida and, brother and sister-in-law Tim and Suzi Garrett of San Antonio, Texas He is proceeded in death by his parents Carson and Helen Wood and his brother Philip Brian Wood.
An Honor Service is scheduled for July 19, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida. Please arrive no later than 10:30 a.m.
