Aerosmith retires from touring, months before planned Orlando show

Legendary rock band Aerosmith announced this week that they are retiring from touring, six months before their “Peace Out” farewell tour was set to come to downtown Orlando.

On Friday, August 2, Aerosmith announced on their website that singer Steven Tyler has “spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was” prior to sustaining a vocal injury. However, the band realized that a “full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible.”

Aerosmith further stated that Tyler has been “struggling despite having the best medical team by his side.”

As a result, the band – which consists of Tyler (vocals), Joe Perry (guitar), Brad Whitford (guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass), and Joey Kramer (drums) – made the “heartbreaking and difficult” decision to retire from touring.

“It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours,” stated Aerosmith. “In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives.”

In 1973, Aerosmith released their self-titled debut album, though it wasn’t until their third album, “Toys in the Attic” (1975), that they achieved mainstream success. The album featured hit singles “Walk This Way” and “Sweet Emotion,” which established the band as a dominant force in the rock scene.

Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, Aerosmith continued to release successful albums, including “Rocks” (1976) and “Draw the Line” (1977).

Over the course of their lengthy career, Aerosmith has sold more than 150 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time. They have also won numerous awards, including four Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, and 10 MTV Video Music Awards, and they have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Aerosmith’s now-canceled “Peace Out: The Farewell Tour” was scheduled to make one of its final stops at the Kia Center in Orlando on February 11, 2025.

Anyone who purchased tickets for Aerosmith’s final tour through Ticketmaster will automatically be refunded. If you purchased tickets via third-party resale sites such as SeatGeek, StubHub, VividSeats, etc., contact your point of purchase for more details.

On their website, Aerosmith concluded Friday’s announcement by stating, “We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time. Grateful to our expert crew, our incredible team and the thousands of talented people who’ve made our historic runs possible. A final thank you to you – the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true.”
