A Central Florida man is facing up to a decade behind bars after pleading guilty to transferring firearms that were unregistered.
On Tuesday, August 20, U.S. Attorney Roger B. Handberg announced that 25-year-old Deltona resident James Edward Snider, Jr. has pleaded guilty to distributing unregistered machine gun conversion devices.
According to court records, Snider transferred one or more machine gun conversion devices that were not lawfully registered.
During a search of Snider’s residence, law enforcement officers also located additional machine gun conversion devices, along with firearm silencers.
A sentencing hearing will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Snider is facing a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and it is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam J. Nate.
Additionally, this case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program that brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence.
