Detectives ID victim in fatal Orlando stabbing

Detectives with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office have identified a man who was fatally stabbed in Orlando early Sunday morning.

According to OCSO, the victim in this case has been identified as 37-year-old Michael Dearius Thomas, Jr.

At around 1 a.m. on Sunday, August 25, OCSO deputies responded to the 4800 block of W Pine Street in Orlando in reference to a possible shooting incident.

When the deputies arrived on scene, they located a man, Thomas, who had sustained a wound that initially appeared to be from a gunshot.

Thomas was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

OCSO detectives conducted a homicide investigation, which revealed that Thomas had been stabbed, not shot, during the incident.

“All parties involved are accounted for and there is no threat to the community,” stated the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in an update on Monday afternoon.

OCSO added that the investigation remains “active and ongoing.”

No further details were provided by the sheriff’s office regarding the stabbing incident or any potential suspect(s).
