Universal Orlando Resort’s popular Halloween Horror Nights event is kicking off this week, and it features haunted houses inspired by A Quiet Place, Ghostbusters, and Insidious.
Beginning on Friday, August 30, the theme park will host the 33rd installment of its Halloween Horror Nights series on select nights through Sunday, November 3. The event will run from 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.
One of the 10 haunted houses featured in this year’s event is A Quiet Place, which includes “monstrous creatures” that will “hunt you down as the world of the first two films comes to terrifying life.”
With Insidious: The Further, the Red-Faced Demon will attempt to lure guests into his lair as they step inside The Further.
In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, an ancient artifact has released a “chilling new entity,” and the Ghostbusters are the only ones who can keep guests from “getting iced.”
The remaining haunted houses include:
- Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines – Saskia Van Helsing and the Bride of Franenstein go up against Dracula’s daughter and her monstrous mavens.
- Monstruous: The Monsters of Latin America – Witness three terrifying legends: Tlahuelpuchi, La Lechuza, and El Silbón.
- Slaughter Sinema 2 – Experience a horror movie marathon at the Carey Drive-In, which includes scenes from creature features, grindhouse gore, and more.
- The Museum: Deadly Exhibits – A folklore museum’s latest exhibit, The Rotting Stone, has released an evil spirit that decays everything.
- Major Sweets Candy Factory – While chaperoning a field trip to a candy factory, the free samples transform the kids into candy-coated killers.
- Goblin’s Feast – Enter a goblin village, where a special feast is being prepared for goblins, orcs, hobgoblins, and witches.
- Triplets of Terror – Attend the Barmy triplets’ birthday celebration, which includes recreating the murders of their entire family.
In addition to the haunted houses, Halloween Horror Nights includes five scare zones and live entertainment, as well as some of the theme park’s rides and attractions.
The event may be too intense for young children and is not recommended for anyone under the age of 13, according to Universal Orlando Resort.
