Weezer to be joined by Flaming Lips, Dinosaur Jr. at upcoming Orlando show

American rock band Weezer, along with special guests The Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr., will be in Orlando in a few weeks for a concert celebrating the 30th anniversary of Weezer’s debut album.

On Friday, September 20, Weezer will bring their “Voyage to the Blue Planet Tour” to the Kia Center (400 W Church Street). Doors open at 6 pm., with the concert kicking off at 7 p.m.

Formed in 1992, Weezer currently consists of Rivers Cuomo (lead vocals, lead guitar), Brian Bell (rhythm guitar, backing vocals, keyboards), Scott Shriner (bass, backing vocals), and Patrick Wilson (drums).

Weezer has sold 10 million albums in the United States, and over 35 million records worldwide.

One of Weezer’s most iconic albums, 1994’s Blue Album, will be played in its entirety during the concert on September 20. This record includes several hit singles, including “Buddy Holly,” “Undone (The Sweater Song),” and “Say It Ain’t So.”

Over the course of a career spanning over three decades, Weezer has won Grammys, MTV Video Music Awards, and more. They also have many radio hits, including “Hash Pipe,” “El Scorcho, “Island in the Sun,” “Pork and Beans,” and a fan-inspired cover of Toto’s “Africa,” to list a few.

The band continues to write new music and has released multiple albums since 2014. Those albums include Everything Will Be Alright in the End (2014), White Album (2016), Pacific Daydream (2017), Teal Album (2019), Black Album (2019), OK Human (2021), and Van Weezer (2021).

In addition, Weezer released SZNZ in 2022, a four-EP project inspired by Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.
