Frederick Harris

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Frederick Harris, a beloved father, brother, friend and proud Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was born on November 7, 1952 in Portsmouth, VA to parents, Albert Harris and Ethel Dunbar who both preceded him in death. Frederick’s life was one filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to 
his family. On August 4th, 2024, in Orlando, FL at the age of 71 years old after bravely battling small cell lung cancer, he peacefully closed his eyes to rest.


Frederick leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who knew him. His daughters; Shannon Harris, Tashondra Hicks (Damian), Eboni Owens (Austin) and 
Erica Harris and grandchildren; Maiya Jackson, Jaiden McClendon, Kingston Demacque, Sebastian Hicks, Tristian 
Hicks, Julian Hicks and Journi Owens were his pride and joy; he loved them more than words can express. He was preceded in death by siblings Albert Harris, Jr., Linda Harris, and Majoyce Watson. He also leaves behind siblings; Marie Richard, James Harris (Myra) and Ricky Harris (Avis) and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews who shared countless memories with him throughout their lives. 


A man of immense humor and wisdom; Frederick had an infectious laugh that could brighten any room. His passion for reading was unparalleled – often found immersed in books from various genres as he sought knowledge and understanding of the world around him.

His unwavering spirit served as an inspiration to all who knew him, facing life’s challenges head-on with courage and grace. Throughout his battle against cancer, he remained strong for his family while cherishing every precious moment spent together.

The loss of Frederick has left a void in the hearts of those who loved him dearly, but his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched during his time on this earth.
