A man who was found unresponsive in a pool at the Discovery Cove theme park in Orlando on Saturday morning has died.
At around 11:10 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the park after receiving reports that a man in his 60s was unresponsive.
The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. His name was not released by law enforcement.
According to OCSO, an investigation into the incident is “active and ongoing.” No further details were provided by the sheriff’s office.
In a statement, Discovery Cove stated that its staff responded to a medical emergency involving a guest on Saturday. When the staff members made contact with the guest, they provided care and contacted Orange County Fire and Rescue.
“Our thoughts are with this family, and out of respect for their privacy, we won’t be commenting further,” said a Discovery Cove spokesperson.
Discovery Cove (6000 Discovery Cove Way in Orlando) is a sister park of SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica Orlando that allows guests to swim with dolphins and snorkel with thousands of tropical fish and rays, according to its website.
