Man struck, killed by SunRail train in Orlando

A 51-year-old Orlando man was struck and killed by a SunRail train in Orange County on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, on the railroad tracks adjacent to S Orange Avenue, near Pine Street, in Orlando.

In a media release, FHP stated that the train was traveling southbound on the outside track when a man, who was previously sitting next to the tracks, stood up and walked into the direct path of the train.

Moments later, the man was struck by the train, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name was not released.

FHP stated that no one on the train was injured.

Due to the collision, Pine Street was temporarily blocked in both directions.

The crash remains under investigation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
