Edith Guerdan

Edith Guerdan, age 88 of Maitland, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024. Edie was born in Avoca, New York on March 29, 1936 to Stanley and Margaret (Conner) Peck.

She was raised on the family farm and studied at William Smith College in Geneva, New York where she met her future husband, David “Dave” Guerdan, a student at Hobart College. Edie and Dave married in Bath, New York on January 18, 1958, and after living in California, New York, and Minnesota, they relocated to Maitland in 1972 with their five children. Edie was a devoted wife and mother, volunteering countless hours with the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and church activities. In 1983, Edie became the bookkeeper for Maitland Middle School, where she worked for the next 27 years. Edie and Dave remained a loving couple for 62 years until Dave’s passing on May 25, 2020.

Edie is survived by her children, John Guerdan of Douglasville, GA, Laura Underhill of Bath, NY, David (Tina) Guerdan of Maitland, FL, James (Elizabeth) Guerdan of Falmouth, ME, Katherine Joseph of Winter Park, FL; grandchildren Amanda, Andy, and Billy Underhill; Michael and Ryan Guerdan; Emily and Jason Guerdan; Dalton, Cole, and Brady Joseph; and great-grandchildren Sylas Underhill and Harrison Guerdan. Additional family includes sisters-in-law Sharon Peck of Prattsburgh, NY and Carol Guerdan of Georgetown, KY, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Edie is preceded in death by her parents, her brother David Peck, cousin James Lynch, brother-in-law Rodrick Guerdan, and sister-in-law Constance Olsen.

The family will hold a private service at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL. A reception for family and friends to be announced in the future.
