Man shot and killed during road rage incident at Central Florida McDonald’s

A 30-year-old man was shot and killed on Sunday evening during a road rage incident that occurred outside a McDonald’s in Central Florida.

According to the Daytona Beach Police Department, officers were dispatched to the McDonald’s located at 2709 LPGA Boulevard in Daytona Beach shortly after 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, in reference to shots being fired.

When the officers arrived on scene, they observed a woman performing CPR on a male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim, later identified as Brian Collins, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

DBPD stated that another man approached the officers and identified himself as the person who had shot the victim.

An investigation was launched, which revealed that the road rage incident began with an altercation in the McDonald’s drive-thru line. The incident quickly escalated, and the man who shot the victim claimed that he had “feared for his life,” according to police.

“This is an active, ongoing investigation,” stated the Daytona Beach Police Department in a media release.

No further details regarding the shooting incident were released by law enforcement, and no charges have been filed at this time.
