Josephine Coombs Gilbert

Josephine Coombs Gilbert, affectionately known as Josie, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, in Winter Garden, Florida, at the age of 93. Born on June 27, 1931, in Stuart, Florida, Josie lived a vibrant and fulfilling life characterized by her dedication to her family and her passions.

Josie grew up in Stuart, she spent her career as a beloved waitress, retiring at the age of 87. She was renowned for her loving nature and the joy she brought to both her family and customers. Her final days were spent in the comforting presence of her family and daughter Barbara’s and her husband Mike’s home, reflecting her desire to be surrounded by loved ones. Josie found great joy in her relationships, particularly with her great-grandbaby, Wyatt, and her daughters (dog) which Josie called her little one, blade. She also shared a special bond with her caretaker, Kim, who became a best friend and was a steadfast companion during her time of need.

Josie was a mother to Glen, Bryan, Bruce, Charles, Theresa, Barbara, and Brenda. She was a grandmother to Autumn, Ryan, Ian, Jenna, Kattie, Gregory, Patrick, Sarah, Richard, Jeffery, Jacky, Tara, Joseph, and Travis. She was preceded by her son Gary, grandson Jason, and her husband Richard.

Her hobbies included dancing and a deep appreciation for the music of Elvis, which brought her immense joy and liveliness.
