John L. Lane, 80, left us peacefully in Vitas Hospice on Saturday, September 14, 2024. John was born in Mineola, NY but called Orlando home most of his life.
After graduating from Oak Ridge High School, John embarked on a fulfilling career, dedicating 15 years as a Warehouse Supervisor at Mercury Marine. He concluded his professional career as a Forklift Mechanic at Sherwin Williams, until his retirement. John’s colleagues often remarked on his exceptional work ethic and the pride he took in his craft. Beyond his professional life, John was a man of many virtues. His mechanical skills were not just a part of his job but a part of who he was—always ready to help a neighbor or friend in need. His generosity knew no bounds, and his hands were never too busy for those who sought his help.
Family was the cornerstone of John’s world. He cherished every moment with them, whether it was sharing a meal at their favorite restaurant or cheering on the Miami Dolphins. John was a beloved son to Franklin and Margaret Lane. He joins his siblings Michela, Peggy, and Willie, who preceded him in death. His legacy lives on through his devoted wife Rosemary, his children Michael Ray, Jeanine, Randall, Michele, and Michael, as well as his 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. Throughout his life, he was a member of Saint John Vianney Catholic Church then Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024 , at Newcomer Funeral Home in Orlando. This will be followed by a gathering at Rio Pinar Country Club, where we will share memories and honor the life of a man who was the embodiment of strength, kindness, and love.
As we bid farewell to John, let us hold tight to the memories that comfort us and the lessons he taught us. May his spirit continue to guide us in the days to come.
