A St. Cloud man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with a road rage shooting incident on Florida’s Turnpike in Orange County that injured another man on Thursday morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the shooting occurred at around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike at mile marker 251 in Orlando.
FHP stated that a 33-year-old male victim was traveling on the Turnpike when he discovered that his vehicle, a blue Tesla Model Y, had been struck by gunfire.
The victim’s right leg had sustained a gunshot wound, and two bullet holes were observed on the driver’s side door of his Tesla.
The unidentified victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
An investigation revealed that a second vehicle, believed to be a gray or silver Volkswagen hatchback, was involved in a road rage incident with the victim at the time of the shooting, according to FHP.
The suspected shooter was soon identified by FHP as 35-year-old Jorge Luis De Jesus Carrasquillo. He was then located, arrested, and booked into Orange County Jail on the following charges: attempted felony murder, direct discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
