Naomi Graves, What a remarkable woman and what a long and beautiful life she lived!! She was born and raised in Pen eld, PA in 1919. She closed her eyes for the last time on September 23, 2024 in her own room, in her own bed, one month short of her 105th birthday. Whether she answered to Aunt Mick, G.G., Gramma, Granny Booper or Mom, Naomi was more than our beloved family matriarch; she was the Super Glue that bound us all together. To say that Naomi’s presence in our lives was a gift would be an understatement, her laughter was contagious and bright, her strength was quiet but unyielding. She faced life’s challenges with grace, never letting them dim her spirit. She taught us the value of perseverance, the importance of kindness, and the power of love. We are grateful for the memories we shared, the lessons she taught us, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled, and in the love that will continue to hold our family together.
Predeceased by her husband Jimmy Graves and sisters Vivian Soloman and Ruth Hilbig, Naomi is survived by her 2 sons John and JB Graves. She was especially fond of her daughters in law Terri and Rita and her 6 grandchildren Jason and Brandon Graves, Shawn Loucks, Alex Bower, Natalie Fream and Haley Dossinger, each of her 8 great grandkids Jimmy Graves, Nichole Rodas, Colby, Blake and Aselin Fream, Amelia and Ryan Dossinger and Hazel Bower. Before her passing G.G. got to snuggle with the latest addition to her family, great great grandson Josue Rodas, who lifted the arc of Naomi’s life over 5 generations.
Naomi lived between Florida and Ithaca NY over the years of her life, always enjoying family, picnics, country drives, good home cooked meals and beautiful gardens. She lived at Juniper Manor in Trumansburg, NY from 2006-2021where she made wonderful friends and was surrounded by family.
She then returned to Florida to live with her granddaughter, Shawn and her husband Bobby, where she was surrounded by beautiful gardens, family, back yard parties, puzzling, holding her Great Great Grandson Josue and visited often by her late sisters extended family the Knapp’s whom she adored. She was able to maintain her independence and was sharp as a tac until just before her death when she was cared for with the greatest of dignity and love to the end of her days at home with family. Words can’t express how grateful we are to granddaughter Shawn, her dear friend Joy Pysarchyk and Hospice for the round the clock TLC they gave Naomi and sure, we are sad but we take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace.
A private celebration of her life will take place at a future date in Longwood Florida.
