Local theme parks including Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld have announced park closures in anticipation of Hurricane Milton’s impact on the Central Florida area.
Walt Disney World
According to Walt Disney Resort, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios will close at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9. In addition, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney Springs will close at 2 p.m.
The theme parks will likely remain closed on Thursday, October 10, though Walt Disney Resort states that Disney Springs could reopen on Thursday afternoon with limited offerings.
After the parks and Disney Springs close on Wednesday, Walt Disney World will cease its transportation services. However, limited Minnie Van and Mears taxi services will still be available for guests staying at the Walt Disney Resort.
Walt Disney Resort further announced that Typhoon Lagoon, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf, and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf will also be closed on Wednesday, while Blizzard Beach remains closed due to planned refurbishment.
Universal Studios
According to Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Universal CityWalk will close at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, and will remain closed on Thursday, October 10.
Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios is cancelled for October 9 and October 10.
“Our hotels remain operational as they focus on taking care of our guests,” stated Universal Orlando Resort in a press release.
Universal Studios anticipates that its destinations, including Halloween Horror Nights, will fully reopen on Friday, October 11, pending the outcome of Hurricane Milton’s impact.
Guests with tickets to visit Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure on October 9 or October 10 – or Universal Volcano Bay on these dates – will be able to use their tickets to visit any day through Wednesday, December 18.
If anyone has Halloween Horror Nights tickets and/or Halloween Horror Nights Express passes for October 9 or October 10, they will be automatically honored for a single night use on any one of the remaining nights of the event. However, if you have an R.I.P. Tour Experience for October 9 or October 10, call 1-866-346-9350 and select option 2.
SeaWorld and Aquatica
SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica Orlando will be closed on Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 10.
“Precautions are in place following the parks’ comprehensive weather preparedness plan to ensure the safety of our animals and ambassadors during this time,” reads a statement from SeaWorld Orlando.
According to SeaWorld, all tickets purchased for October 9 and October 10 have been extended through December 31.
