Mary Lee (Marilee) Zahn passed away on September 21, 2024, in Central Florida. She was 76.
Marilee was born in New York City in August of 1948 to Norman and Delores. Growing up in Bayshore, she enjoyed going to the beach, swimming competitively, and playing board games. She graduated from Bayshore High School in 1966, after which she took on a variety of jobs in marketing, advertising, and clerical work. An avid music and concert fan, Marilee went to the Woodstock Musical Festival in 1969 and saw Janis Joplin perform at Madison Square Garden. In the 1970s, she moved to South Florida and briefly owned and operated a fish store in Broward County before returning to New York City to take another position in marketing. In the late 1980s, she moved back to Florida and joined the US Postal Service as a Letter Carrier serving Broward County. She retired from federal service in 2011 and moved to Indian Harbour Beach, FL, where she could enjoy the beach once again.
Marilee will be best remembered for her quick wit and sarcastic sense of humor, for her interest in UFOs, and for her penchant for telling stories about her adventures in New York City. She was loyal, kind, and loved to laugh.
Marilee is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Delores; and brother, Norman III. She is survived by her nephew, Kenneth (Shannon); her four great-nephews, Aidan, Benjamin, Hunter, and Andrew; her sister-in-law, Charen; and her beloved Yorkie, Peanut. She will be laid to rest at Queen of Angels Cemetery in Winter Park, FL.
