A man was killed on Sunday evening after he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a power pole on an Interstate 95 entrance ramp in Volusia County.
The crash occurred on the I-95 southbound entrance ramp from State Road 44, near mile marker 249, at around 6:50 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The report stated that a 35-year-old Edgewater man was riding a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he traveled eastbound on the I-95 southbound entrance ramp.
While on the ramp, the man “failed to negotiate a right-hand curve,” and his motorcycle veered off the roadway to the left. Moments later, the vehicle crashed into a power pole.
After the impact, the man was thrown off his motorcycle. He was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, where he was pronounced deceased.
The man’s name was not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
An FHP trooper noted in the report that the crash remains under investigation.
