A kangaroo is on the loose in Volusia County after escaping its enclosure following an encounter with a bear.
In a social media post on Thursday evening, Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood stated that the kangaroo was spotted on the side of a roadway in Pierson, which is a little over 50 miles to the north of Orlando.
“Just when you think you’ve seen it all,” stated Sheriff Chitwood. “Pierson is hopping tonight.”
According to the sheriff, the kangaroo reportedly escaped shortly after a bear entered its enclosure.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office has contacted the kangaroo’s owner, and deputies are “keeping (their) eyes peeled” for the missing marsupial.
No further details were provided regarding the kangaroo or the type of enclosure it was being kept in.
