A man was arrested in Indian River County on Monday, hours after he allegedly shot and killed his wife at a shopping plaza in Orlando.
At around 1:15 p.m. on Monday, October 21, the Orlando Police Department responded to a shopping center located in the 5800 block of Lake Underhill Road in Orlando in reference to a shooting incident, according to OPD.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a female victim who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. She was identified by police as 44-year-old Yuneisy Labrada Rodriguez.
Witnesses at the shopping plaza told officers that a man, later identified as 54-year-old Armando Verdecia Carralero, had fled from the scene of the shooting in a vehicle. He was quickly identified by police as a suspect in the shooting death of his wife, Rodriguez.
Carralero was eventually located hours after the shooting incident by the Indian River Sheriff’s Office, and he was taken into custody without further incident. He is being charged with first-degree murder with a firearm.
In a social media release on Monday evening, OPD stated that its detectives “(are) not looking for any additional suspects at this time.”
No further details regarding the fatal shooting were provided by Orlando police.
The shooting death of Rodriguez comes a week after an Orange County Sheriff’s Office lieutenant was allegedly shot and killed by her estranged husband, a former OCSO sergeant.
