A 14-year-old boy has died from injuries sustained in a shooting that left another teen wounded on Wednesday evening in Orlando.

The shooting incident occurred at around 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, near the 2300 block of Huntington Green Court in Orlando. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived on scene and found a 14-year-old victim who had sustained a gunshot wound.

The teen victim – later identified as Vincent Jones – was transported to a local hospital for treatment of “life-threatening injuries.”

OCSO stated that another 14-year-old boy later showed up at the hospital for treatment of a “non-life-threatening gunshot wound.”

In an update on Friday, October 25, OCSO stated that one of the teen victims, Jones, passed away the previous night from his injuries.

The other 14-year-old victim is expected to make a full recovery.

While conducting an investigation into the shooting, OCSO detectives determined that both teens were likely shot during the same incident.

“At this time, the investigation is still in its early stages, but our detectives do not believe this was a random act of violence,” stated the sheriff’s office.

OCSO added that its detectives will “continue to follow leads in this case,” and “updates (will be provided) as new information becomes available.”

No further details were provided by law enforcement regarding the shooting incident or any potential suspect(s).
