An 18-year-old man was arrested in Volusia County after he allegedly traveled from Michigan to meet a minor.
According to the Edgewater Police Department, a 911 call was received on Monday, October 28, regarding a “juvenile female” who was missing.
An investigation was launched by the police department, which “quickly revealed” that a man, identified as 18-year-old Kaden Reese Schienle, had allegedly traveled overnight from Michigan to meet the missing girl.
Investigators learned that unbeknownst to her parents, the girl had left her home in the early morning hours on October 28. Once the girl’s family discovered that she was missing, an “intensive” investigation was launched by EPD to locate her.
With assistance from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, EPD officers located Schienle’s vehicle as it traveled southbound on Interstate 95 into the county. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle, and Schienle was taken into custody.
The police department stated that the missing girl was “safely recovered and reunited with her family.”
Schienle was placed under arrest and transported to Volusia County Jail, where he is currently being held on a $15,000 bond. He is being charged with traveling to meet/lure a child after using a computer and depriving custody of a minor.
Following Schienle’s arrest, Edgewater police released the following statement: “Traveling to meet a minor is not only unacceptable, but also a serious offense. EPD is unwavering in its commitment to protect our community’s youth.”
