Burris H. Mallery, age 77, passed away at Advent Hospital, Altamonte Springs, Florida on August 29, 2024, after he lost his battle with small cell lung cancer.
Billy was born in Albany, N.Y., on February 5, 1947, and graduated and received his diploma from Albany High School. He was happily married to his wife, Elin, on July 11, 1980.
Billy worked as a bartender most of his adult life at the Albany Bowling Center, Disney’s Contemporary, Grand Floridian, and Sheraton properties as well as banquets on and off Disney property. Billy loved going camping, to the beach and attending parties with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Jeannette, his brother Chuck Mallery, sisters Laura Mallery and Virginia Lynch and niece Alicia Alessandrini.
Billy is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elin Mallery; daughter, Amy Renehan; grandsons, Lucas and Connor; stepdaughter, Lisa Samples; and grandson, Ethan; stepsons, Jeffrey Ragone of North Carolina and granddaughter Marissa, who have been there for us with love, support, and gave his life meaning. Kristopher Ragone and wife Hanh of Daytona Beach, Fla. and grandson Grayson, who have been my rocks through the last four years, making our lives less troubled. Billy is also survived by his sister, Lois O’Brien; his nephew, Burris Beattie and wife, Penny of Colonie, N.Y., who have been extremely supportive, and their son, Andrew Beattie and wife Amy. Billy’s love for them gave him the strength to fight. He is also survived by his nephews, Rolland, Keith, and David Beattie and nieces, Charlene Devito and Lynn Moore, plus his 5 Golden Retrievers whom he adored. He also had many wonderful and caring friends, both old and new, who will miss him.
Billy was a wonderful husband, father and partner. He was compassionate, friendly, a great bartender, life of the party, and never said no when someone was in need.
Billy had a verse he used to say: “If you find a career in life that you love, you will never work a single day.”
