A 42-year-old woman was arrested by Orlando police and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the disappearance of her roommate, who was last seen on Christmas Day in 2022.
On Thursday, November 7, 2024, the Orlando Police Department announced that Gisselle Victoria-Gonzalez, 42, was arrested on the following charges: one count of second-degree murder, one count of tampering with physical evidence, and one count of grand theft.
Victoria-Gonzalez was the roommate of the victim, then-40-year-old Runyleidy Medina-Pacheco, at the time of the victim’s disappearance on December 25, 2022.
At around 1:30 p.m. on December 27, 2022, OPD officers responded to the 6200 block of Curry Ford Road in reference to a missing person. Victoria-Gonzalez had contacted law enforcement and stated that she had not seen her roommate, Medina-Pacheco, since Christmas Day.
According to OPD, detectives launched an investigation, which revealed “numerous inconsistencies” in the version of events that were described by Victoria-Gonzalez.
A search warrant was executed at the residence shared by Victoria-Gonzalez and the victim. Orlando police stated that during the search, “significant evidence” was recovered that indicated a “violent incident” had occurred inside the home.
The investigation into the victim’s disappearance expanded to include multiple law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels. Detectives ultimately determined that Victoria-Gonzalez was living in Hartford, Connecticut, and investigators traveled there to interview her.
OPD stated that investigators spoke with Victoria-Gonzalez and “developed probable cause” to charge her with second-degree murder. No further details were released by Orlando police regarding the ongoing investigation.
Law enforcement has not located the body of Runyleidy Medina-Pacheco, according to OPD.
