The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for a vehicle that fatally struck a 27-year-old woman on West International Speedway Boulevard in Volusia County early Saturday morning.
The hit-and-run crash occurred at around 1 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, near the intersection of West International Speedway Boulevard and Tomoka Farms Road.
According to a preliminary report from FHP, an unknown vehicle was traveling on West International Speedway Boulevard, to the west of Tomoka Farms Road, in the inside lane.
At the same time, a 27-year-old Daytona woman was walking “north to south” when she stepped onto the westbound lane of West International Speedway Boulevard. FHP stated that she proceeded to walk directly into the path of the unknown vehicle.
The woman was struck by an unknown section of the vehicle. After the collision, the vehicle fled southbound on West International Speedway Boulevard.
In the report, an FHP trooper noted that there is no further information on the vehicle or driver involved.
