DeLand firefighters responded to a local residence on Thursday afternoon after a dryer caught fire.

According to the DeLand Fire Department, firefighters responded to a home located in the 400 block of North Atlantic Avenue at around 3 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, after a resident reported that the property was filling with smoke.

The resident further stated that the fire “appeared to be out,” though the home was “filling with smoke.”

When DFD crews arrived on scene, they searched the interior of the home and observed that the fire had been contained to the dryer.

After firefighters removed the dryer, they used fans to ventilate the house.

All occupants were able to safely exit the residence. In addition, firefighters located two cats while searching the interior of the property, and the pets were brought outside.

There were no injuries reported.
