A 31-year-old woman from Germany died on Sunday evening after she was struck by an SUV while standing at an intersection in Orlando.

The fatal accident took place at around 6:35 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, at the intersection of Universal Boulevard and Breakview Drive, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The report stated that the SUV, a 2025 Mazda CX-50, was traveling southbound on Universal Boulevard when it approached the intersection of Breakview Drive.

An FHP trooper noted that the SUV veered off the roadway and onto the west shoulder of Universal Boulevard, which is where the 31-year-old pedestrian was standing. The vehicle then proceeded to strike a tree before colliding with the pedestrian and multiple traffic signal support posts.

The pedestrian was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.

The SUV’s driver and sole occupant – a 37-year-old Fort Lauderdale man – was taken to the same hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
