Two Orlando men have been sentenced to prison for distributing hundreds of grams of methamphetamine.
On Wednesday, November 6, U.S. District Judge Carlos E. Mendoza sentenced 57-year-old Patrick Hugh Mitchell to 10 years in federal prison and 37-year-old Kyle Jay Hunter Baronville to 5 years and 10 months in federal prison for their roles in distributing multiple pounds of methamphetamine.
Baronville pleaded guilty on January 26, 2024, and Mitchell was convicted by Orange County jurors on June 27, 2024.
According to Baronville’s plea agreement and testimony/evidence presented at Mitchell’s trial, a confidential source working with the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted several controlled purchases of methamphetamine from Baronville.
During the first transaction, Baronville sold the confidential source approximately 357 grams of methamphetamine.
Baronville then obtained 892.5 grams of methamphetamine from Mitchell, which they proceeded to sell to the confidential source.
Court records show that Mitchell distributed the drugs in the parking lot of a gas station, where he also detailed cars and sold food. He also bragged about the high quality of the methamphetamine he sold.
Forensic tests were conducted on the methamphetamine that was seized from the transactions involving Baronville and Mitchell, and chemists determined that it was “100% pure.”
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Megan Testerman and Michael Sartoian.
