A man from the Bahamas recently claimed a $20.5 million jackpot, several months after a Florida Lotto ticket he purchased in Kissimmee hit the jackpot.
On Friday, November 15, the Florida Lottery announced that Leon Strachan, 49, of Nassau, New Providence, visited the Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee to claim his multi-million-dollar jackpot.
Strachan chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $11,826,169.83.
The jackpot-winning Florida Lotto ticket was purchased by Strachan at Murphy USA located at 3256 Vineland Road in Kissimmee. The retailer received a bonus commission of $100,000 for selling the winning ticket.
Since its inception in 1988, the Florida Lotto has awarded nearly $11 billion in prizes, with 1,099 individuals becoming millionaires, according to lottery officials.
The next Florida Lotto drawing will be held on Saturday, November 23, at 11:15 p.m. E.T., with an estimated $26 million jackpot.
