One passenger was killed, and three others were seriously hurt, after a car ran a stop sign and crashed into a van in Osceola County on Sunday evening.

The fatal crash occurred at around 6:55 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, at the intersection of Old Hickory Tree Road and Nolte Road in St. Cloud.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, two 19-year-olds – a Gainesville man (driver) and Kissimmee woman (passenger) – were traveling southbound on Old Hickory Tree Road in a 2005 Toyota Corolla when the driver ran a stop sign at the intersection of Nolte Road.

FHP stated that the car proceeded to travel into the intersection, directly in the path of a 2014 Nissan Quest that was heading eastbound on Nolte Road. As a result, the front section of the Nissan struck the right side of the Toyota.

After the initial impact, both vehicles veered off the roadway before coming to a final rest.

The Toyota’s driver and the two occupants of the Nissan – a 74-year-old man (driver) and 49-year-old woman (passenger), both from St. Cloud – were transported to HCA Florida Osceola Hospital for treatment of “non-life-threatening” injuries.

The sole passenger of the Toyota was also taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

A trooper noted in the report that the drivers and passengers involved in the accident were all wearing seatbelts during the crash.

The two-vehicle collision remains under investigation, according to FHP.
