Nancy Bailey Thurman, beloved mother of three children, age 66, of Orlando Florida, went to be with the Lord in heaven on Tuesday November 19, 2024.

Nancy was Born in Orlando in 1958 to Walter Edward Bailey and Vaunita Studstill Bailey. She attended Lake Como Elementary School, Howard Middle School and Boone High School where she graduated in 1976. During her life Nancy helped to found Advanced Refrigeration & Air and worked at AT&T Wireless as well as the Orange County Public School system.

One of Nancy’s greatest qualities was her selflessness; she had a tremendous heart for serving others, especially her family. Her children always knew that if they needed anything, their mom would drop everything to be there in an instant to help them.

When she became Nana, her home felt like a second home to all of her grandchildren. There was a pool party or a slumber party planned at Nana’s nearly every weekend. She fought incredibly hard to live long enough to meet her twin grandsons, who are due in early 2025. She was so excited about their arrival and talked about them all the time. She loved her children and grandchildren more than anything in the world and she will, without a doubt, be a guardian angel who will watch over them from heaven. She was truly the best Mom and Nana that anyone could have ever asked for.

Nancy loved spending time with family and friends, going to church (Meadow Grove Baptist Church in Hayesville NC and First Baptist Church of Orlando), cooking (especially home cooked southern meals and her famous lemon cheesecake), traveling (from road trips across the US, sailing to the Caribbean, flying to Europe or other trips for family vacations), attending live concerts (Journey, Toby Keith and many more), going to the beach, enjoying time in North Carolina at her log cabin, going to and having garage sales, and painting. She leaves a legacy of love, faith, and service.

Although Nancy is now gone from this world, she will not be forgotten. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her three loving children, John Thurman (Eveline), Rebecca Luisi (Anthony) and Adam Thurman (Sara); six grandchildren, Matt, Katelyn, Averie, Olivia, Dylan, Parker and two grandsons expected in 2025; two sisters, Susan Morton and Donna Peeler (Mike) and many loved nieces and nephews.

The family welcomes all those who knew her to a memorial service to be held on Saturday, December 7, at 11:30 a.m. at Colonial Carey Hand Funeral Home (2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando Florida, 32806). A celebration of her life will be held following the memorial service.
