A man was killed on Friday evening after he was struck by an SUV while walking across Silver Star Road in Pine Hills.
The fatal crash occurred at around 7:10 p.m. on Friday, December 6, near the intersection of Silver Star Road and N Pine Hills Road, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP stated that a 2009 Chevrolet Traverse was traveling eastbound on Silver Star Road, west of N Pine Hills Road, in the inside lane.
At the same time, a man was walking southbound on N Pine Hills Road when he attempted to cross Silver Star Road. As he entered the eastbound lanes, he proceeded to step into the direct path of the SUV.
As a result, the front of the SUV struck the pedestrian. He sustained fatal injuries from the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver and sole occupant of the SUV – a 54-year-old Apopka man – remained on-scene and was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
