A Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputy was injured on Saturday afternoon after she accidentally shot herself in the leg at a local Walmart.
According to VCSO, the incident occurred at around 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, at the Walmart located at 101 Howland Boulevard in Deltona.
Several other deputies were on scene and rendered aid until paramedics arrived. The wounded deputy was then transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday, VCSO stated on social media that the deputy is doing “OK.” The agency added that it is “wishing her a full and speedy recovery from her injuries.”
No further details were provided regarding what led to the accidental shooting or whether the incident occurred inside or outside the Walmart.
