A 33-year-old Deltona man who was caught with hundreds of videos and images depicting child pornography, including some that featured toddlers, has been sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison.
On Monday, December 9, U.S. District Judge Wendy Berger sentenced Christian Alberto Arango to eight years and one month in federal prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, for receipt and possession of child sexual abuse material.
In addition, Arango must register as a sex offender. He was also ordered to forfeit his computer and cellphone, which were used to commit the offenses.
Arango had pleaded guilty to the charges in June.
According to court records, an investigation led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) revealed that a man, identified as Arango, had been producing and selling child sexual abuse material on the internet.
On November 13, 2023, FBI agents executed a search warrant at Arango’s home in Deltona. During that search, a computer and cellphone belonging to Arango were seized by agents.
A forensic examination of both electronic devices revealed over 500 images and 600 videos depicting the sexual abuse of young children, including toddlers.
On February 13, 2024, during an interview with investigators, Arango admitted to purchasing and downloading hundreds of child sexual abuse images since around 2018.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It was prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Del Mastro.
Additionally, this case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
