All charges have been dropped against former Florida Rep. Carolina Amesty, less than four months after a grand jury indicted her on multiple charges for allegedly forging a signature on a document she had notarized.
Orange County Court records show that on Sunday, December 8, a “Nolle Prosequi” order was filed, indicating that Amesty will not face charges of forgery, uttering a forgery, false acknowledgement or certification by a notary public, and notarizing her own signature.
Amesty, a 29-year-old Republican from Windermere who represented District 45, was indicted on the above charges on Wednesday, August 28. The following day, she turned herself into Orange County Jail.
At the time of the indictment, the State Attorney’s Office for the Ninth Judicial Circuit stated that the charges against Amesty were “connected to evidence showing she knowingly notarized a document with a forged signature in 2021 while serving as an administrator at Central Christian Academy, a nonprofit school run by her family.”
According to State Attorney Andrew Bain, a “concerned citizen” had notified his office of Amesty’s “potential criminal wrongdoing,” which prompted an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
The information gathered during FDLE’s investigation was then presented to an Orange County grand jury, which led to the indictment and filing of charges in August.
Amesty was elected in 2022 to represent Florida House District 45. In November 2024, she lost her re-election bid to Democrat and former Disney executive Leonard Spencer.
