An Orlando man who was caught with hundreds of grams of methamphetamine and fentanyl will spend the next 25 years behind bars.

On Tuesday, December 10, U.S. District Judge Paul G. Byron sentenced 34-year-old Joshua Grant Cobb to 25 years in federal prison for possessing controlled substances with intent to distribute them and possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

Cobb had pleaded guilty to the charges in late July.

According to court records, Cobb was identified by law enforcement officers as a distributor of methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl. Investigators also determined that a residence belonging to Cobb was being used to facilitate his drug deals.

During an investigation, a confidential source was used to arrange a controlled purchase of fentanyl at Cobb’s home. When he left his residence for the deal, he was met by officers and detained in handcuffs.

A pat-down search of Cobb revealed that he was in possession of a loaded firearm and 55 grams of a mixture containing fentanyl.

A search warrant was executed at Cobb’s home. Inside, law enforcement found over 700 grams of methamphetamine, nearly 350 grams of fentanyl mixtures, $4,000 in cash, unspecified drug processing materials and equipment, and six loaded firearms.

Cobb was ordered by the court to forfeit the firearms and ammunition that were seized.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and Brevard County Sherriff’s Office. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Megan Testerman.

Additionally, this case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, which is a program that brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence.
